Thanks for the heads-up. If I were in my 20's or 30's and knew what I know today, I would move myself and my family to Alaska via the AlCan highway...and never look back.

where have you been blueice ?

i've got a fisher gold bug metal detector and while i haven't been too successful finding nuggets in alaska (mainly placer gold where i go for fun) i'm always being called upon to find lost things with it...

my wife lost her keys out in deep powder snow one time and so i fired up the gold bug and finally located them and saved the cost of making new keys. the neighbors were looking for the metal rebar surveyors had put in years ago to mark the corners of their property. i measured out the distance with a tape measure from the plat map and with dead reckoning figured out about where they should be...when the detector sounded i kicked the moss down and found their property stakes and saved them the cost of re-surveying...and today my future son in law lost his new iphone and i said lets go find it. After a half hour we found it in a snowbank the plow truck had pushed it into under a foot of snow and saved him the cost of a new iphone...its been a handy tool to have...
